ARTHUR BOELTER: When clients come in, they're always worried about what's going to happen. It's the fear of the unknown that we all have. They need some sort of relief and I can provide that because I take it upon my shoulders, all of that tax burden, and I tell them that. I make sure they know that once they hire me, I take over. I want to make sure that they have confidence in me. That they can see that I have the experience and the background, going on 40 years of tax practice, to get a successful result for them.
At the first appointment we gather facts and then try to develop some preliminary strategies as we're sitting there. What I like to tell clients is the metaphor of a train approaching a tunnel. What I say to them is that they're on a train. They enter the tunnel and there's nothing but darkness. There is no light. What we're going to do is take them on that journey on that train to the end of the tunnel. And when we get through the tunnel, it's going to be nothing but sunshine and light.
